Given the above challenges of the vaccine carriers in use by the Government of India's (GoI) immunization programme, it was decided to introduce User Independent Freeze-Free Vaccine Carriers (UIFFVC). Although this technology has been in the market for a while, these have not been used by GoI thus far. These UIFFVC, although vastly expensive compared to the regular vaccine carriers, overcome the operational challenges of contamination, conditioning of ice-packs and saving time for the vaccine handler.
